Day Camp June 8th to June 12th

Join us the week of June 9th from 9:00-4:30 for a martial arts summer camp!

Our camp is designed for students ages 6 and up (no experience necessary) and will include fun activities like:

  • Martial arts and self-defense training by experienced instructors
  • Arts and crafts
  • A trip to a ceramics studio
  • Park time
  • and more!

Who can join in?

Anyone aged 6 and up! Absolutely no prior martial arts experience is required, although if you’re already a student you’ll get focused time to work on your skills and plenty of opportunity to become a better instructor.

What will campers learn and do?

Campers will learn age and skill-appropriate self-defense and martial arts skills, including how to use their voice and bodies to stay safe.

  • New students will be introduced to these concepts by expert instructors
  • Existing students will get focused time to improve their skills and opportunities to instruct

Camp, however, goes far beyond martial arts! We’ll also spend time with art projects guided by professional educators, take a trip to a ceramics studio to create one-of-a-kind art pieces, and just have fun in the park.

Where is it?

Camp will begin at our studio (5850 San Pablo Avenue), but we will also use Hollis Doyle park for fun outdoor activities.

When is it?

Camp begins at 9:00 each morning and ends at 4:30 (there is an option for after care until 5:30).

Camp runs from Monday, June 8th until Friday, June 12th.

  2. Water bottle
  3. Lunch
  4. Book for optional reading time
  5. Shoes

Who is running the camp?

Rob Hean, one of our instructors is running the camp. Rob has been training Poekoelan for over 20 years, and teaching students ages 4-74 for almost as long. Abby Paske, a BUSD teacher, will be second in command. Both are fun, positive, encouraging teachers, experienced black belt martial artists, and parents of Naga students themselves.

Other expert instructors will be at the camp to help create a memorable, fun, summer experience.
